starti.app offers design assistance for those who want their app to visually stand out from their website.
Use your website exactly as it is. What you see on the website will also be shown in the app – even when you make changes to the website.
This solution is recommended for those who have a simply designed website and just want access to mobile features. Here, no or very few design changes are made.
The website is still the core of the app, but you can choose to make adjustments to the website that are only shown in the app.
Popular adjustments include, for example: a fixed “app menu bar” or removing the website’s footer in the app. These changes can easily be handled by your web developer.
Some choose to build entirely new web content to be displayed in the app. This content can be hidden on the website.
This solution is recommended if you don’t already have a website or want to show something new in your app.
It could also be that you have content on your website that doesn’t work perfectly in an app. With the tailor-made solution, you can adjust that content so it appears one way in the app and another way on the website.
We started by removing all the “unnecessary” elements from the front page – including the footer, logos, etc. We moved the cart into an app menu bar along with the search function, category pages, favorite lists, and profile. Then we highlighted the search function and (initially) the login section, which are among the features Vetnordic’s customers need the most.
Once the customer is logged in, we highlighted: current campaigns, courses, favorites, and most purchased products on the front page.
All of this was done with a design that matches Vetnordic’s brand while also making the app easy and intuitive for their customers to use.
Again, the focus was on removing all unnecessary information from the website that the user doesn’t need in the app. After that, we designed the product pages so that the “Add to cart” button is always visible – no matter where the user is on the page.
The new design of the product pages is completely free of “clutter” for the users, making it easy and straightforward to order the desired products.
Some of the category pages on Vetnordic’s website are quite long, so we made sure that the sorting options stay visible as you scroll in the app. This allows the user to easily and quickly narrow down to the exact product they’re looking for on a long list.
We also removed unnecessary boxes and margins in the app, making the products stand out more clearly.
Vetnordic has the best search function in the industry, so delivering a great search experience in the app was absolutely essential! To achieve this, we implemented the following:
Our task was to make all three search methods intuitive, so users can easily find the product they’re looking for in the way that suits them best.
When a customer adds a product to a favorites list, it’s because they want to quickly find that product again. That’s why we designed a favorites page in the app that’s easily accessible via the app menu bar and offers a clear, well-organized overview of all the products added to favorites.
Here, the customer can easily compare products, view prices and stock status, and add items directly to the cart.
We hold a meeting where you provide input for the design and deliver any fonts, colors, icons, and other visual elements. During the meeting, we define up to 5 pages in the app that will have a custom design.
You can prepare the following before the meeting to make it more effective:
Our graphic designer creates a draft design based on your input.
A week after our meeting, you'll receive an interactive draft of the new design. Here, you can test the design and functionalities, navigate between pages, and get a feel for how the app will look and function.
You can test the design on as many mobile devices as you need – and we strongly recommend doing so. There's often a big difference in how a design feels on a large vs. small screen, or on an iPhone vs. an Android device.
Typically, it takes 1–3 days for you and your team to test the design.
How do you test a design?
After testing the design, you may have some fine-tuning you'd like us to implement. That’s completely normal, and we always make sure to allocate time for it.
These adjustments are usually quick to make, and it’s rare that the full 3 days are needed.
Once all adjustments are completed, the design can be implemented directly in the app. You can either choose to implement the design yourself (using web technology), or you can get help from our developers. If you'd like our help with implementation, this can be purchased at an hourly rate.
starti.app bases your app on your website. This means that everything displayed in your app is content that comes from your website. However, this does not mean that you need to change the design visible on your website.
Just like you have both a desktop and a mobile design for your website, with starti.app you can also get an app design. This means that you have the option to show your website one way in the browser on mobile and another way in the app.
If you later want to adjust the design, text, images, etc. in the app, this is easily done through your website.
Your input is an important part of the design process. It varies greatly from client to client how many ideas and thoughts they have already considered regarding the app's design. That’s why we always hold an inspiration and design meeting before we begin the actual design work. Here, you can share all your input, requirements, and ideas. This is also where you should provide color codes, fonts, graphics, icons, etc., if you already have a design guide we need to follow.
In other words, it’s entirely up to you how much influence you want to have on the design.
Prepare for and participate in our inspiration and design meeting:
Test the design:
When we have a design draft ready, we’ll send it to you, and it’s your responsibility to test it for any errors or issues. It’s a good idea to make a list of the adjustments you’d like us to make so we can ensure the design turns out exactly as you want it.
That’s completely okay if you don’t have any design elements we need to follow. In that case, we’ll take inspiration from your website and make sure to design the app so that there’s a clear visual connection between it and your website.
We can also design icons ourselves and select colors and fonts if you haven’t already settled on anything specific.
It varies greatly which pages our clients choose to have designed. However, most commonly, the front page is selected, as it’s often the first thing your users see in the app.
Beyond that, webshops typically choose their product pages, category pages, cart, and favorites list.
SaaS companies typically select pages with statistics/overviews, features (such as map view, filtering, calendar, etc.), input options, and profile pages.
If you're unsure which 5 pages to choose, it can be helpful to look at the pages on your website with the most traffic. These are likely the pages that will also receive the most traffic in the app, making them a good starting point.
Yes. In our design package, you pay for up to 5 pages - whether we design 2 or all 5 for you. This is because our designer spends time getting to know your brand and style to create the best possible design for you.
If you want us to design more than 5 pages, you can easily purchase additional ones. After the first 5 pages (included in the design package), each extra page costs 670 EUR.
Note: Keep in mind that if, for example, you’re a webshop and choose to have a product page designed, that design can be reused across all your products - not just the one specific page.
When we have a design draft ready, we send you a link to an interactive design of the 5 selected pages in your app. The link can be opened both on a desktop and a mobile - however, our clear recommendation is that you open it through the starti.app app, because that way you get the exact right feel for how your app will become.
(We attach a description of how you can open the design directly through the starti.app app when we send you our design draft.)
An interactive design means that you can navigate between the different pages, you can press selected buttons, test functions, etc.
We always recommend that the app design is tested on several different devices and by several different users.
When we have created a design, we send it to you for testing. Here, you should test both the functionality (i.e., does it work as it should?) and the visual aspect. During the testing phase, you have the opportunity to suggest adjustments to the design - both functional and visual. Our main task here is to make the necessary changes so that you become 100% satisfied.
And remember, the more input you give us during the inspiration and design meeting, the closer we can get to exactly the design you want.
However, it is important to emphasize that taste and aesthetics are individual, and we design based on the input and wishes we receive. Once we have presented a well-developed design and adjusted it according to your revisions, we unfortunately cannot take responsibility if the final result does not match your personal taste.
Minor adjustments = small tweaks to the website that make it look more “app-ish” when displayed in the app. For example, a new menu bar, hidden footer, etc.
Custom design = larger changes in, for example, the design or layout in the app compared to the website. You might want to choose this option if:
Both types of changes will only be visible in the app and will not affect your website.
The design package costs 3.350 EUR and includes:
You have the option to purchase design for additional pages at 670 EUR per extra page.
Yes. Please note that the price of our design package does not include the implementation of the design. It is your own web developer who is responsible for that. If you want our help with implementing the design, you can purchase this on an hourly basis. The applicable hourly rate depends on which subscription package you have.
Yes, of course! One of the extra great things about starti.app is that you can continuously make changes to your app - via your website - WITHOUT it requiring an update of the app itself.
(Normally, Apple and Google require an app update when you want to make changes. But not with starti.app.)
If you want to start with a 1:1 solution and afterwards want to change the design of the app, this can easily be done directly through your website using web technology.
