Case: TuneButler’s new iPad app enhances user experience

TuneButler provides background music and digital signage services to businesses, including restaurants, cafés, hotels, fitness centers, office spaces, and retail stores. They developed a web portal where customers can manage their music and digital signage within their premises.

Some of TuneButler's customers control the music via iPads (tablets), and that resulted in TuneButler needing an app. They used the starti.app technology to develop the app.

An app custom built for iPads

The TuneButler app was designed specifically for iPads, catering to customers who manage their music through a tablet. It offers a faster and more user-friendly experience than the web version of TuneButler's portal.

One unique aspect of the TuneButler app is its compatibility with older devices. Typically, apps are developed to support the latest devices and are regularly updated to meet new iOS or Android standards. TuneButler’s app works seamlessly on the latest tablets but is also developed to function on older devices, which may no longer receive updates and aren't on the latest version of iOS.

starti.app saved TuneButler from additional hires

TuneButler has in-house developers to manage their web portal but doesn't have the competencies to handle app development internally since their developers are web-only. That’s where they found starti.app.

When they learned about the starti.app technology, which could base the app on their existing web solution and keep it updated in line with the web portal, they knew it was the right choice.

"Our core business is about making it simple for companies to choose and play the right music to their business, as well as providing them with digital signage in an easy and user-friendly way. These two things are often connected, so we’ve combined them into a single portal: The TuneButler Portal.

We’ve been in business for four years, and while we had considered creating an app before, not having one was never a deal breaker before. However, after receiving a request from a new client, for whom it was crucial for our partnership, we looked into how we could best address this need.

We don’t have in-house app development expertise, nor do we intend to at this moment. That’s why choosing starti.app has been the perfect solution for us," says Kasper Hollænder, CEO at TuneButler.

A test app for just EUR 2,000 made it a no-brainer

The idea for TuneButler's app emerged when a potential customer needed access to their web portal via iPad. While the portal was already designed to function responsively on all devices and sizes, the fact that over 100 employees needed access via different iPads led TuneButler and the potential customer to agree that an app would offer a superior and faster user experience.

However, developing an app for a single potential customer was a significant step for TuneButler, but it was also crucial to winning the client.

A test version of the app, offered by starti.app for just EUR 2,000, proved to be the perfect solution. "This allowed us to get a feel for the technology, ensure it was the right fit, and test and refine before committing to the final version," says Linea Millard Nielsen, CMO at TuneButler.

And just one week after TuneButler received their test app, they were convinced and ready to proceed with their full app. From there, it took only 2 weeks before the app was fully developed and ready for download in the App Store and Google Play.

starti.app info: Test app

At starti.app, we understand that deciding to get an app is a major decision. Sometimes, it can also be difficult to envision how the app will turn out and how users will receive it.

That's why we offer a test app based on the starti.app technology. The test app cannot be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, but it can be used internally to get a feel for the app. It's also possible to share the test app with a group of test users.

The test app costs EUR 2,000 and is available to you for 3 months.
